18th May - The Spaceguard Centre

Surrounded by the beautiful Welsh Marches, lies The Spaceguard Centre, the UK’s only centre dedicated to Near Earth Objects and addressing their hazard to our planet. On our visit to this working observatory, one of the country’s leading experts will explain the structure of the solar system, why we have a problem and how we can solve it.

Tickets include:

Return coach travel from Cardiff to The Spaceguard Centre, Knighton, Powys.
Entrance into the Spaceguard Centre for a private 1.5 hour tour covering the impact hazard posed by asteroids and comets.
Opportunity to buy food & drink at a local eatery in Knighton.

Timings:

Leave Cardiff at 11.30am
Return to Cardiff for 8pm
Estimated coach travel time: 2.5 hours each way

Prices:

Adult Ticket = £40
Child Ticket (11-15yrs) = £35

Additional information about this trip:

Unfortunately, The Spaceguard Centre has recommended that this trip is only suitable for 11 years plus.
The Spaceguard Centre is wheelchair accessible expect for their telescope dome, which only takes up a short amount of time on the tour.
The trip will be split into two groups with one half touring the centre first whilst the other has opportunity to buy food/drinks at a local eatery. The groups will then swap over.

8th June - Jodrell Bank

“Jodrell Bank is an amazing, unique, and awe-inspiring place. A world-leading deep-space radio observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an award-winning national visitor attraction.” - Visit Cheshire
Come on this trip to visit the home of the mighty Lovell Telescope, explore countless exhibits within four state of the art pavilions and witness a stunning dome show. This trip is not to be missed!

Tickets include:

Return coach travel from Cardiff to Jodrell Bank, Cheshire.
Entrance to Jodrell Bank.
Planetarium-style Dome Show.

Timings:

Leave Cardiff at 8am
Return to Cardiff for 8pm
Estimated coach travel time: 3-3.5 hours each way

Prices:

Adult Ticket = £50
Senior Ticket (65+) = £48.50
Student Ticket (presenting student card) = £48.50
Child Ticket (4-18 years) = £46.50

This trip is open to CAS members and friends & family.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR PLACE

If you would like to reserve a place please reply to this email with the following info:
- Which trips you would like to book onto
- How many tickets you would like
- Name & membership number of each ticket holder
- Contact number

Once received you will then be emailed a reservation confirmation.
Due to the nature of these coach trips, instructions for payment will not be sent out immediately. A link to make your payment online will be emailed to you once we have enough reservations. Payments can be made by Paypal or Debit/Credit card.

After payment has been made you will receive confirmation of your booking and a full itinerary.
